Colorado Springs, Colo. – June 15, 2016 – At a ceremony attended by club members, staff and project team members, the Garden of the Gods Club and Resort celebrated the topping out of its $11 million expansion project.
GE Johnson Construction Company is the general contractor and has been on-site since the project broke ground in January, working alongside CSNA Architects and the Garden of the Gods Club and Resort on the world-class design since late 2014. The project is scheduled for completion in mid-November.
The two-level, 28,000-square foot International Health and Wellness Center (IHWC) will be located just east of the current Spa and Salon entrance on the property, according to Laura Neumann, the club’s general manager.
Dating back several hundred years to Scandinavia, the topping out ceremony marks the placement of the final piece of structural steel and is intended to celebrate the good fortune of the project. The event also allows all those involved to look forward to the completion of the building. In this spirit, several speakers praised the collaboration it has taken to reach this milestone.
“The Wellness Center is positioned to become a world-class destination health and wellness enterprise with a client base ranging from health-conscious individuals to global corporate executives,” Neumann said.
The Center will uniquely create a new model of healthcare, integrating traditional and holistic medicine while recognizing the importance of the mind, spirit and body in achieving optimal health and well-being. The IHWC will be open to members, guests and the community and will offer a unique approach to health through a whole-person response to wellness and disease prevention. The health and wellness team is led by Medical Director Dr. Michael J. Barber and distinguished physicians and wellness authorities dedicated to coordinating each person’s care to increase vitality and well-being.
The facility will also be a multipurpose building, featuring meeting space, an executive boardroom and a grand ballroom for up to 250 people. It will also include a new spa and salon which will take full advantage of the view of Garden of the Gods while providing a holistic approach to overall wellness and rejuvenating skincare.
President and CEO of GE Johnson, Jim Johnson praised the work of the entire project team, including CSNA Architects and the Garden of the Gods Resort and Club, and expressed excitement about the future of the Club.
“As a Colorado Springs company, we take great pride in partnering with businesses right here in town that have national and international reputations,” said Johnson. “The Garden of the Gods Club and Resort is iconic, and this addition is really going to take it to an all new level. I think people will be blown away by the finished product.”
Perched high atop a mesa in Colorado Springs, Colorado, the legendary Garden of the Gods Club and Resort is a private country club and public resort featuring stunning views of Pikes Peak and the Rocky Mountains towering over the majestic red sandstone formations in the Garden of the Gods Park. With a heritage of unparalleled distinction, the Club continues that tradition today of luxury and excellent service in a tranquil environment, as members mingle with local celebrities and business moguls during lavish events, and families relax poolside, on the golf course or in the recreation centers.
