GE Johnson Breaks Ground on New Teton County Elementary School

Jackson, Wyo.  April 19, 2017  Yesterday, at a ceremony attended by Wyoming Governor Matt Mead, local and state officials and members of the Jackson community, GE Johnson Construction Wyoming broke ground on Munger Mountain Elementary School. GE Johnson has teamed up with Teton County School District #1 to deliver the $25 million school. We will be on-site for approximately 16 months.

When complete, Munger Mountain Elementary School will house nearly 600 students ranging from kindergarten to fifth grade, easing capacity concerns from surrounding schools. Topping out at nearly 78,000 cumulative square feet, the construction of the school will also include a playground. Additionally, GE Johnson will complete extensive infrastructure work on-site.

“Munger Mountain Elementary will bring an extremely valuable resource to the people of Teton County,” said Senior Project Manager Ben Aufderheide with GE Johnson Wyoming. “We have been in Wyoming and a part of the Jackson community for more than 16 years, and this project represents another great opportunity to help the community grow and prepare for the future.

The elementary school will be built over 10 acres of historical cow pastures at the base of Munger Mountain. Located five miles south of Jackson, adjacent to the Snake River, the natural environment is stunningly beautiful and will be complemented by the school’s sustainable design.
