On Thursday, May 14, the project team at the Boulder Scientific Company project site celebrated 300 days of zero injuries in Longmont, Colo. GE Johnson is the general contractor for the project, and members of the team include Murphy and Sturgeon Electric Co.
Due to Covid-19, the event looked a little different than the typical safety celebration. Members of the project team gathered outside and maintained a social distance of six feet apart while hearing from GE Johnson leadership. There were reminders of ways to reduce the spread of Covid-19 and the importance of face coverings, social distancing, and increased cleaning and disinfecting.
Boulder Scientific Company (BSC) develops and manufactures specialty chemicals used in the plastics, microelectronics, defense, and aerospace industries. GE Johnson has continuously worked with BSC on several projects since June 2018 with zero recordables. The current project is a renovation of a 2,000-square-foot high bay facility and includes the installation of steel access platforms; fully automated controls for temperature, pressure, and flow indicators; and over two miles of total piping. The project is slated to be completed in late June.
The project team was recently recognized by Lee Gauthier, COO for Boulder Scientific Company, for their safety milestone of 250 days without a recordable.
“Safety First. At times, it’s an overused and misunderstood concept, but clearly the folks that work for GE Johnson get it”, said Gauthier.
