Healthy Living in the Rockies

The Big Picture

Located in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, Cheyenne Mountain Resort offers AAA Four Diamond accommodations to those visiting Colorado Springs. This tenant improvement project turned the resort’s existing fitness center into an 8,510-square-foot spa featuring six spa treatment rooms, a concierge and juice bar area, a private outdoor patio with fireplace, and a meditation room. A new 7,760-square-foot fitness center was also created to replace the previous one. It features a multi-tier workout room with state-of-the-art  cardio equipment and weights.

Ingenuity in Action

Flooring was a concern during preconstruction. The challenge was finding a product that worked well for both physical exercise and exercise machines. The building had a high moisture content that further limited the choice of materials. A series of meetings and pricing exercises helped the team discover a material that would hold up under the prescribed use, with the given moisture levels, and meet the owner’s budget.
