The Big Picture
The Laurance S. Rockefeller Preserve Center is a historic landmark within the Grant Teton National Park. The new facility features cast-in-place concrete foundations, insulated concrete forms for the structural walls, and timber columns. The exterior is cedar siding. The interior is comprised primarily of Douglas fir and Hemlock wall and ceiling paneling, with Patina-finish metal panels. The walls are natural wood stain finish, and the fireplace was built from granite gathered onsite.
Ingenuity in Action
The main source of power to the property was located overhead. Part of the project required relocating it underground. This involved careful coordination and planning with the National Parks Service for minimal disruption to the park.
